Back on Levi Watch: Please see Gryphen's most recent update about this "filing for joint custody" situation - it is very interesting.
The Insider tonight started off with the big news of Levi saying that he is going to file for joint custody of Tripp. He seemed really exasperated with not being allowed to see Tripp when he was back in Alaska. He sounded very serious and determined about going to court and says that it will be done by the end of the month. But later on in the show I think he hedged a bit. He addresses Sarah Palin, and he asks, "Sarah, how about a truce?" And they ask him what a truce means to him, and he said a relationship with Bristol and Tripp. It sounds like if he gets better visitation with his son he won't go forward with filing for joint custody. That really made me think that this a ploy to gain visitation - to say that he is willing and able to file for joint custody if the Palins won't cooperate with allowing him to see Tripp.
Additionally, the interviewers talked a lot about Sarah's upcoming Oprah interview, and what, if anything she'll say about Levi. And as I watch the news items about Levi filing for joint custody continuing to proliferate around the internet, I think that was a lot what this sort of whiplash interview tonight was about. The "Levi is filing for joint custody" headline is all over the place tonight, and Sarah is sure to be asked about an imminent custody battle between her daughter and Levi in all of her upcoming interviews. Maybe Levi is counting on her deciding that she doesn't want to have to deal with that and settle this matter in an amicable fashion before she gets to the book tour.
I have to add that I think this was his best interview yet. Someone has given him a new hairstyle and citified duds, and he looks really cute. And he was really relaxed in this interview. They spent a considerable amount of time on him in this show, and he spent more of it smiling and talking than we have seen him do before. If the amount of time they gave to Levi is any indication of his popularity I would say his star is rising.
Next up, Levi was also on Entertainment Tonight. They followed him around as he went househunting - apparently he is in the market to buy a house for himself and Tripp. ET promo'd an interview coming up tomorrow with Diane Diamond that focuses on this prospective custody battle.
Levi certainly is getting a lot of publicity! I think Levi is setting this up quite well. Either he is going to get some adequate visitation with Tripp or Sarah Palin's book tour is going to turn into a tabloid discussion of her teenage daughter's custody fight.

What is Sarah campaigning for? This looks like a replay of last year's road trip.
I know that we have some publishing experts reading this blog. Please tell us if this kind of promotion is normal or the result of Sarah's super swelled ego.
Why does this not surprise me!? Can this woman nothing with even a hint of class and dignity? Of course NOT!
I went to Al Gore's website to see if he is promoting his book and appearances in the same tacky way. Nope.
But what I did see was something interesting, the Miami International Book Fair Nov.8-15. Al will be there, and I learned from a friend of mine in Miami (she sells cook books) this fair is huge. Go to the website. The week is capped by a huge street fair. (Other cities have similar fairs). How did HC plan to release Sarah's book right after this big event? And, we don't see Miami on her bus tour. Good planning.
I know she will be on the road for Thanksgiving so I'm thinking of having her over for dinner. After all it is the Christian thing to do. Let me run this by my shrink first.
This woman makes me so ill, I can't wait till she gets hers.

Levi was again featured on Entertainment Tonight (Monday night) showing him househunting in Alaska. He seems to be the new favorite at ET, too.

You and I have the same impression of Levi's appearance, message, new confidence and chattiness on The Insider. I felt that the panel were serving him well, and may be now counted on as part of Team Levi. The timing of his message and threat to Sarah/Bristol is no coincidence. It is all about the O show this week, and then I would imagine a recalibration of just about everything will be required. This young man needs all the adult mentoring and support that he can get.
Back to the message, seems clear to me that he stood up on national TV, at age 19, and asked a former governor and Vice Presidential candidate for a truce. He asked seriously, simply, elegantly and with honesty. What a bigger person he is, no matter where the truth is eventually found to be hiding out. I have no question in my mind that if she honors the truce, he will as well. Contrast that to how this former failure communicates with him -- with a ghost writer on Facebook. FAIL Sarah, you just don't win any contest with this young man. And when it comes to character and integrity, again Sarah, you FAIL.
Does it seem like Team Levi has finally figured out how to deal with Sarah Palin?
Now, how can the progressive blogosphere adopt those tactics?
(not very easily, because we'd have to do the interview/talk show route, and maybe even pose....hmmm, and we'd have to have a pipeline where there is ACTUALLY DIALOGUE with La Palin, not snide comments on Facebook or pronouncements from the attack snake)
I don't remember the ' after Thanksgiving ' dates but I didn't think she was going to CA at all. There is a star that looks like Los Angeles.And maybe 2 stars up there in Idaho. I didn't know there was so much ' book reedin and lernin' going on in Idaho. MOST people try to sell something where the most people are.Silly me. I guess I'm not that smart and figured it all out yet.
And I'm not exactly sure where Rochester NY is.If it is anywhere in the vicinity of where NY-23 ... she might consider dropping that City. That or ask her Friend Hoffman to come out and shill some books with Her. I heard he didn't get that ' Job 'she recommended him for. Just a rumor though... don't want to start something.

my take on the truncated BOOK TOUR schedule:
it's just her QUITTER WAYS. she anticipates to be bored by then, so this way she can quit without "quitting".
i think that the book tour stops themselves are going to be a HUGE circus. it just hit me that these weirdos will do ANYTHING to see/meet her and will do ANYTHING to get on tv....im willing to bet that at every stop, there will also be somekind of 'Tea Party' rally as well..... should be interesting!!!!

Pat in Texas: I think it's useful to remember that this is not a normal book that a publisher might buy and sell in the ordinary way.
First, Big Rupert owns HarperCollins and Zondervan (the bible publisher) who jointly signed SP. To me, that means Big Rupert said "give the little lady $xxMillion." The usual issues of how many copies would it sell, what should it contain, etc., were not relevant here, although some poor drudge undoubtedly went through the usual motions to prep this kind of thing, and other higher-up drudges went through the rest of the motions so it looked like a normal book deal. But my reading was it is just a big cash transfer from Rupert to his protege. In exchange for favors SP can do for him later, if she proves to be a force in politics, as he and she hope might happen.
And then for some reason the print date was moved up. My take? Rupert could see the natives getting restless (that would be us bloggers) with all these icky little facts and hoaxes, and Rupert wondered if SP can survive all this tittle-tattle or not. Why not learn sooner rather than later? Because I think he thinks there's a nonzero chance that SP will be able to ride it all out. So the ghostwriter is hired, the book is crashed through.
Then we had all this best-sellerdom madness before the book was out. So that was on pre-pub-sales. My guess? Rupert and his many pals using their many businesses large and small ordered lots and lots of copies, so they could give them away free at religious rallies or if you buy something you get a book free. We have seen this kind of offer already.
If the book fails to sell well, Rupert and pals will again swoop in and do some bulk buying and boost the sales rank. Just like papa Joe Kennedy did for JFK's "Profiles in Courage" so he could say it had been on the NYT bestseller list for x weeks. This is all just a giant tax deduction, esp when he donates those books to some religious group.
This weird book tour that is unlike any other we have noticed for other authors? Sure, let SP either self-destruct or prevail. Let's give her full rein for her mavericky self. All Rupert has to do is sit back and watch. It's all good info for him. Sink or swim?
Pretty scary if she manages to swim, no? I see soooooo many people who discount her, don't care, and don't really think much about who is behind her and what they have in mind for the rest of us. As described in Max Blumenthal's video and book.
Wild card that Rupert did not expect: Levi. All alone (with Rex+Tank, of course). Nobody else is getting in the way, are they? Same question re Levi: Will Levi prevail beyond getting child visit rights and whatever is possible to help his Mom? Or will it all blow up for SP? Again, just a simple "sink or swim?" question for Rupert. He's just watching how it all plays out, and then he and pals will continue their work, one way or another, with or without SP. No biggie either way. A gamble.
A little off topic - but if Sarah is going to be on Oprah's Monday, 11/16 show - that means she will probably be here in Chicago taping on Friday, or possibly earlier this week. I am pretty confident it won't be live next Monday. Last Friday Ellen was here, and she was on Oprah today. They even went out and about the City together on Friday for some fun.
Milkwaukee was close enough, but now I'm getting queasy thinking Scarah is going to be even closer within the next few days. I wonder if any audience members will "spill some beans" before it is actually broadcast. I'm pretty sure Oprah won't be taking Scarah on a girlfriend jaunt around town. But I'm hoping it won't be a cake walk for Palin. Be tough, Oprah.

Sarah is taping the Oprah show from her home in Wasilla! So, it doesn't look like she will have to set foot in NYC, the "not real" America. Make Oprah fly up there? Or use a satellite method? They showed previews on Oprah's show today, Sarah and baby Trig. Would Oprah agree to something pre-scripted? We shall see.
I'm in Chi-town, too, also. Knowing she'll be here makes me feel dirty... Like I need a shower!
Her book tour stops are ridiculous. She's not just a quitter but a coward! I'd love to see her come to the Southside ... Oh wait she's racist too, also.

Acually, I should not say that Levi is a wild card Rupert did not expect. I think any normal person knows there are 10? 20? or some number of people who could talk about SP under oath and end her career. The question is WILL THEY? And if they chose not to (as is so far the case), are the odds even better that those same people will remain silent as time goes by? Or if they speak up later, that they will be ignored, all the more as time passes. So I think it would be more accurate to say, re my "sink or swim" theory, that Rupert wonders if anyone will or won't come out and talk. That is very interesting info to know. And if they rattle their chains, as Levi has, so what? How far will it go toward unmasking our dear SP? Perhaps not very far at all, and then the big cash transfer to SP will have been well worth it. Or maybe she will sink: no problem, and better to know that ASAP, to avoid investing further in a loser.
When I say Rupert, I really mean Rupert AND Amundson and all the rest of the wealthy funders of this biblical-rule movement. I really mean all the pals who have a lot more wealth to gain if their vision approaches reality.

I was just watching Dave Letterman and his guest was so excited about being on Oprah. According to her, she tapes on the 20th and it will air some time after that.
So, I am sure that if Sarah's interview is going to air on Monday, Nov.16, she will be in Chicago a few days before to tape. Does she know that Chicago is the home town of Barack Obama, and has a large percentage of Democrats? Sarah needs a welcoming committee to make her feel right at home.
Regardless of whether the actual parents are the ones who would be involved in a custody case, the fact of the matter is that Sarah is the one who Levi is sparring with publicly about visitation issues. The best way to cut Sarah out of the picture is to take away her power. If Levi has knowledge of wrong-doing by Sarah, he can reduce her power by going public with this information.
Levi...do you want to even out the power struggle with Sarah? Tell what you know. You'll get a lot further with your custody questions...and the public has a right to know if she did things which were immoral or illegal.

Levi needs a family law attorney. I seriously hope he is not planning on using Butler, a criminal law attorney for custody litigation. Bristol & Sarah are royally screwing up and the things they are doing will tick a judge off in a big way. I believe babies need to be primarily with their mommas with frequent short visits for dad, but Bristol may be setting herself up to lose that child to Levi. And Levi should think twice about posing in porn mags, soft-porn or not. That is not good role modeling for a little boy. Both of these parents need to behave, and consider what is truly best for a baby now, and plan a changing schedule as Tripp gets older and his needs change.
Agree with Anon 4:19. And wouldn't it be poetic justice for the baby if it ends up before the same family court judge who chewed out a certain family for interfering, at the expense of the children, with the trooper divorce?

I work as a retail merchandiser in big box stores for a major toy company, and that website captures the walmartness perfectly.

Really? Do you actually think anyone is going to question Palin about babygate on her book tour.
Let me clue you in on a bit of reality.
She is only going to friendly territory, the general public has no idea about babygate. She has gotten much better about controlling the media stories about her as well.
She will scream from the rooftops how welcoming and friendly everyone has been. She will release some video clips of fawning fans and maybe a small well practiced speech to show her popularity. She will control this message, make no mistake.
The MSM is not going to cover anything themselves, they may cover the tour with released footage given to them by Palin but thats it.
Dont get your hopes up that this is going to make her look bad. It wont. Be prepared to be thouroughly disgusted by the press.
I am actually starting to lose faith that people will even get to talk to Sarah. I'm envisioning you pay your money, walk passed Sarah at a table just signing her name - no inscriptions to you- then you pick up a book and move on out - 7 seconds to pass by the relics. She doesn't allow cameras or phones or anything at her speeches, how will she risk actually speaking to people?
Picture this, Sarah speaking: "What's your name darlin'? (wink)
Person in line, smiling: "Sarah! My name is ' you're not Trig"s birth mom'!! (Laughs and walks out)

Oh, it could be such a hoot to have some rational people in the line to mix things up for Sarah.
Sadly I just do not see how she can possibly risk it.
